Birdseye Maple is the same wood as Hard Maple but due to irregular branch growth the "birdseye" pattern is found on some trees.   Spalted Maple - Rare Domestic Hardwood

Spalted Maple is the result of bacterial and fungal growth within a fallen tree. As the wood begins to break down the intricate black lines begin to form in the wood. If the wood is caught at the proper time this design can be captured before the wood rots. Due to the fungus that lives in the wood Spalted Maple is a dangerous wood to work with.

  Inselwood - Unclassified Hardwood

Inselwood is a family secret of IOM Woodworking Inc. The technique of Inselwood was created by Darryle F. Inselman over 30 years ago. We utilize Inselwood in almost all of our products. It is comprised of at least 8 different types of Domestic and Exotic hardwoods. At any given time these 8 woods may change. The process of making Inselwood is very labor intensive so custom orders in Inselwood will require more time to complete.
